Freelance Junior Graphic Designer (Remote)

The Aesthetics of Joy is looking for a freelance junior graphic designer to help us launch a new brand! In this role, you’ll be helping to create vibrant graphics for web and social, and designing downloadable guides and presentations to help bring this new brand to life for our community.

About us

The Aesthetics of Joy was founded by designer and author Ingrid Fetell Lee to help people find more joy in life and work through design. In the new year, we’ll be launching a colorful new brand that gives people a new path to emotional well-being, through science-based content and online programs.

Who it’s right for

This role is ideal for an independent worker who is just starting out in their career (1-2 years of experience is ideal) and wants the chance to create bold, fun (portfolio-worthy) graphics while honing their craft.

Our dream designer excels at turning complex ideas into simple, eye-catching layouts. We love clear hierarchies, thoughtful type combinations, and of course, plenty of color.

We’re a small, creative team with a strong aesthetic vision. We believe in working collaboratively, giving clear, direct feedback, and having everything we put into the world be something we’re proud of.

Details

This position is fully remote. Workload is variable, but highly flexible. We collaborate primarily via Slack, Notion, and Dropbox — as well as an occasional Zoom.

The Aesthetics of Joy is committed to reflecting diverse expressions of joy within our world. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), immigrants, women, LGBTQ designers, and designers with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

How to apply

To apply, please send portfolio links to [email protected]. We’d love to see a range of work, including designs for social, web, and print where possible. Please include your standard freelance rate when applying.

Part-time Design Intern (remote)

The Aesthetics of Joy is looking for a part-time Design Intern! In this role, you’ll be supporting our team by helping us develop resources and tools for our community. You’ll be responsible for adapting our style guide to new web and social assets, as well as creating worksheets, downloadable guides, and presentations.

This role is ideal for a student in a graphic design program (undergrad or masters) looking to gain experience in working with a real-world brand and build their portfolio.
